MEMO: Memphis Commercial Appeal reporter Amy Barnette is planning to do a profile of me to "inform voters" before the August and November elections. I am sending this to you, Amy, and other media personnel. You have permission to copy/share at your discretion. THE JAMES REESOR 2010 PROFILE Written by the man himself “DATE OF BIRTH: 2 November 1938 The miracle of birth is seldom understood by the very humans benefitting from this phenomenon. Millions of babies have been born through the centuries and have made life on Planet Earth a unique experience – yet very few, if any, actually understand the biological/spiritual processes that brought them into existence. None of us were born as a result of a decision we made. We entered this dimension of life because of what other people chose to do – with help from God. Since I believe that our Spiritual Master – the Father, Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit – played a vital role in creating humankind after His image, we can only hope that our lives will honor our earthly fathers and mothers in a way that reflects His reality. Procreation is an art form practiced by a man and woman that results in the merging of souls. The biological connection made during intercourse results in ‘conception’ on occasion – and sometimes on more than one occasion for many parents. Knowledge from the Holy Spirit has enlightened those who hear, telling us that God interjects a soul composed of spirits at the speed of Light when emotions climax. It is because of His participation in designing and formulating each soul for specific purposes that we believe all forms of human ‘life’ should be preserved and sustained as long as possible. My identity is the same as all humankind. I am a soul – not a ‘body’ with a life expectancy of 120 years or less. Each of us need to realize that we are eternal beings in earthly bodies. The choices we make during our lives will determine our relationship with each other and with our Spiritual Father. He, alone, has the Power and Authority to determine our eternal fate. PLACE OF BIRTH: Herbert, Saskatchewan, Southern Canada. A Canadian father and an American mother resulted in a dual citizenship for me until the age of 18 – at which time it was my choice to accept full American citizenship. A passport, social security number, drivers and marriage licenses, and a voter registration card further confirm my legal rights as a full-fledged citizen of the United States of America. My ‘Canadian’ heritage has caused many Tennessee neighbors to ostracize me for reasons only they can explain. Having a prostitute, drug addict, or a murderer for a mother is almost more acceptable in some political circles where bigots dominate than not being born in Tennessee. Most people do not realize the full extent of my ancestral heritage, prior to my birth or arrival in Music City USA, because they've never been told. People with curiosity can click links and read for hours to learn more than they want to know about me on my web site: JamesReesor.com (Serious researchers will discover my connection to the William Penn colony in what is now Pennsylvania, the sister of Milton Hershey – the man that made chocolate candy so popular – along with my Patsy Cline connection, the Country Music Hall of Fame, Opryland, Tennessee Elijah, and JIGROP). HABITATS: Canada was home for me in these places: Herbert, Consul, Moose Jaw, and Estevan. In North Dakota: Williston City, Lignite, Mandan, Minot, and Bismarck. South Dakota: Beaulah, Lemmon, and Tolstoy. I lived in Bradley, West Virginia, and two different times in Flat River, Missouri. I spent one exotic year in Manila, Philippines, one year in Dallas, Texas, and I've lived in several Nashville, Tennessee, community locations since July 31, 1962. My consciousness envelops all of Planet Earth – and beyond. There are no artificial barriers to impede me as I ponder the scope of my earthly reality. The wide spectrum that encompasses environments from birth to physical death will include many locations that provide only temporary circumstances hardly worth commemorating. Like many people, I’ve been on a journey that took me ‘through’ certain places that I thought of as ‘home’ for short periods of time. EDUCATION: None claimed. A formal education does not a genius or a political leader make. If university degrees assured superiority in one form or another, government personnel directors could select the next Governor of Tennessee – thereby saving candidates and big-money special interest groups the time, expense and trouble of making government jobs available to the highest bidder. Maybe its time for someone with innate intelligence who is open to spiritual guidance, and/or intuitive inclinations, to lead educated experts back to common sense. Human experience will be teaching the lessons of life long after institutions like Harvard or Vanderbilt cease to validate knowledge seekers who want to seize power from ‘we the people.’ My public school attendance records are found in places where I once lived. In addition to finishing my junior and senior high school correspondence course, while the son of a missionary, which brought me great satisfaction, I received a GED certificate that was needed to enter my ‘liberal arts’ freshman year at NWBC. That year concluded successfully, giving me a sense of accomplishment. However, my entry into higher education at Minot State Teachers College and the University of Tennessee (two times) proved to be less rewarding – due to the incompatibility of a marriage partner, poverty, pneumonia, and youthful irresponsibility known by most people as ‘immaturity.’ FAMILY: Father: James Brower Reesor; Mother: Mary Reesor; Sister: Yvonne Beatrice Reesor; Sister: Jeanette Marie Reesor; Brother: Donald David Reesor (Deceased); First Wife: Sharon Lee O'Brien Reesor; Daughter: Vicky Lynn Reesor; Son: James Brien Reesor; Daughter: Shon JeVon Reesor; Second Wife: Melissa Nan Reesor; Step-Daughter: Rachel Ann Stiles: Son: Harrison Nathaniel Reesor. We often hear about ‘blood relatives’ who are family members, but the idea of ‘psychological’ or ‘spiritual’ relatives is not commonly understood. We humans can be ‘biologically related’ and be described as one of the ‘leaves’ on a family tree, but unless ‘souls’ in those bodies are compatible as One with the heavenly Father, we might as well be strangers. I've learned to love and trust certain people that are not physically related to me. Also, I've learned to be cautiously optimistic – which is just my way of being ‘skeptical’ – in regard to family members who are boring, cantankerous, selfish, untrustworthy, arrogant, or too busy to realize that I'm still alive. I do try my best to love enemies as Jesus taught us to do, but living with enemies is much harder. Thank God for a wonderful wife that has given me a wonderful son. He was born in 1995 when I was 56 years of age. Harrison is now 15, bigger than me, and much smarter than me. I love my family – all of them! EMPLOYMENT: My work experience includes delivering the Grit newspaper, painting trim on a barn roof, feeding livestock, driving tractors on farms, hauling wheat by truck to a grain storage facility, selling oil paintings that I created in my spare time, and working as an orderly at the Bismarck Hospital. I updated oil/gas exploration info on linen maps for Northwest Mapping Company, pumped gas at a FINA station in Dallas, delivered bottles of water to homes for Crystal Springs, diddled around as a commercial artist at Dybdal Advertising Agency, did a few gigs as a musician/singer while performing as Jay Rees and the Monarks, owned the Nipa Hut Art Studio, did three years as an advertising manager at Nashville Products Company, created my own job by becoming the owner/CEO of ADPRO Productions, Inc., was a part-time advertising representative for Country Song Roundup, owner/CEO of Nashville American Productions, Inc., traveled through many states as a JayCee Publication advertising collections representative, song writer with the House of Cash, worked out on the ranch as an artist/copywriter for Loretta Lynn Longhorn Rodeo, did free-lance commercial art as owner of Creative Services, meekly worked on commission as a Pacesetter sales rep, and was eagerly involved in many other work-related endeavors – too numerous to mention. As a person who lacked a formal education, I did have a certain ability to make something out of nothing off and on through the years. I've always enjoyed being innovative, creative, and eager to use my artistic talent in one way or another. Unfortunately, the ‘bottom line’ for me was barely enough to pay the cost of survival. I'm still here – thanks to help from generous people. My total earned income for the first 62 years of my life was, coincidentally, $62,000. I'm presently drawing Social Security benefits, and am able to enjoy a modest lifestyle because of a working wife. Justification for my ‘poverty’ is not easy to explain in a simple paragraph. Simply, anyone, such as myself, who is trying to live a ‘true’ Christian life – without compromising with evil employers or corrupt world systems – must be willing to die to self. Remaining loyal to Lord Jesus Christ is more important to me than having a job or being elected Governor of Tennessee. Selling my soul to achieve success will never be a realistic option for me! SOCIAL STATUS: I’m a persecuted White Horse Independent gubernatorial candidate in Tennessee who has been mocked, ignored by the media, ostracized by pseudo-intellectuals, and denied the opportunity to pursue happiness as a freedom-loving, born-again believer in Lord Jesus Christ. Having a reputation as ‘Crazy Man James’ – since I actually hear that ‘still small voice’ coming from God during prayer times – being honored by dignitaries or elitist groups is not something I've ever experienced. Tragically for retailers in marketplaces, my credit rating has bottomed out and my influence among the upper class is nonexistent. I'm a happy nonconformist known as an ‘outsider’ to all those folks in ivory towers. FINANCIAL INVESTMENTS: None. PERSONAL INTERESTS: Waking up in the morning is always fun. I enjoy breathing fresh air, eating oatmeal cookies, thinking about how to make this a more exciting world in which to live, laughing at idiots who are smarter than me, walking in circles to see if I get dizzy, driving my car with eyes closed, writing words for people who seldom read, holding a newspaper up in public places so people will think I'm the intellectual type, writing love songs to escape reality, listening to country music when I'm sleeping, watching TV news to keep myself misinformed, doing oil paintings to cover up holes in walls, playing chess to keep my mind from falling apart, loving my wife and children even though they think I have bad breath, winking at pretty girls to see if they smile at old men like me, trying to figure out how to get to Heaven before I die, promoting freedom from two-party politics, coming up with original ideas for White Horse Independents, wondering why friends on Facebook seldom comment on my messages from God, and campaigning on the world wide web in hope of being elected Governor of Tennessee on 2 November 2010. PUBLIC SERVICE EXPERIENCE: None. Don’t blame me for all the problems in your life. If I had been elected Governor of Tennessee in 1974 instead of Ray Blanton, things in Tennessee would have been much better. If you have doubts about the authenticity of my prognostications, read my ‘Notes’ on Facebook – or simply search my web sites to inform yourself. My ‘political ideas’ are often imitated, but seldom applied in practical ways by those who make promises they never keep. CURRENT OCCUPATION: Working at a non-paying job as a Tennessee White Horse Independent Gubernatorial Candidate in an effort to disseminate free ideas. (Campaign contributions are not accepted). It will take a miracle for me to be elected on my birthday – 2 November 2010. Regardless of all that money being spent to promote a Democrat and Republican, not to mention all of those other Independents, it would sure be nice if someone in the media would quote my Facebook comments once in awhile. I was the first gubernatorial candidate to announce on 18 May 2008, but not one newspaper reporter has noticed my press releases in over two years. (The link to my Campaign Press Releases is easily found on my web site). Vote Smart for A Change... even if it's for someone else! I received an email from Amy today... ---------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Apology from a fan From: "Amy Barnette" Date: Wed, November 3, 2010 09:26 To: jamesreesor@jamesreesor.com Mr. Reesor, I'm contacting you not as a representative of the Commercial Appeal but as an independent journalist (and voter!) to apologize for the fact that your information was not included in the online voter guide. I can't speak with certainty to the reason for this, as I hadn't noticed the mistake until I thought to look at the guide today. Over the summer, during my internship at the paper, the voter guide was a project that two other interns and I worked on for a couple of months, and we were told that some of the profiles — specifically the independent candidates for statewide office — would not be on the ballot in our August elections but that we would get that info collected anyway. It was all submitted and confirmed as received by editors when we put together the primary/local voter guide but was not yet publicly on the site. As I haven't been at the paper full-time since the end of the summer — I am now a freelancer only on the weekends — I haven't seen most of my editors around the office or been fully immersed in the newsroom. My guess is that the profiles I sent were misplaced and that no one got around to contacting me to get them again, but I don't yet know what happened for sure. I'll be contacting editors promptly to see where the error occurred. In any event, I truly apologize and want you to know that this was not an intentional exclusion. On the guide, all of the independent candidates that I profiled — you, Samuel Duck, Linda Kay Perry, Toni Hall, Thomas Smith — were missing, whereas the other independents, profiled by my fellow interns, were included. Given that, I have faith that you and these other candidates were absolutely not targeted and that this was a simple failure in communication and/or technology. Even so, I personally think you are right to feel ignored by the prominent media. I'm sure that if my profile for Bill Haslam had accidentally been lost or deleted, I'd have been contacted promptly to retrieve the information. (I also agree that the guidelines for the profiles are so cookie-cutter as to limit the possibility of gleaning useful information from the candidates. I'm much less interested in a politician's marital status and religion than in serious policies and understanding how they think, but then, I suppose the more freeform the info, the more biased it can be accused of being. It's a sad part of the system.) I wish you a wonderful 72nd birthday and hope all is well for the Man from Tennessee. Keep on rockin, sir. Amy Barnette ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This was my reply to Amy today... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Amy: Your note was refreshingly honest. I read your explanation carefully and my respect for you has been restored – more than I could possibly explain. You impress me as a competent journalist with the skills to do many good things during your career if you remain steadfastly based on what appears to be wholesome values. I understand that mistakes are made by all humans – even those employed at the Commercial Appeal – but there seems to be a pattern of behavior in Tennessee politics that is somewhat alarming. Without going into the details to explain my disenchantment with the media, let me simply say that I hope the average people of our state are treated better by those who are in control than I've been. My candidacy since 18 May 2008 was a learning experience. Thanks for remembering my birthday. It's a reminder that all of us have a limited time on this planet to figure out how we got here, what is the purpose for being here, and where we go after we tire of life as we know it. I now consider you a friend! Best of luck and God bless, James Reesor ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wouldn't it be great if everyone was honest? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
